The denied entry of Jeffrey Epstein by J.K. Rowling
Jeffrey Epstein was reportedly refused entry to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child‘s Broadway opening party, according to US Department of Justice files. The documents reveal that the late financier intended to attend the April 2018 event and was even sent tickets by the stage show’s producers. However, despite having tickets in hand, he was ultimately turned away at the door before he could enter the celebration.
J.K. Rowling's critics jumped to the conclusion that she had invited Epstein, but in a post on X, the author denied ever meeting or communicating with him. She clarified that neither her personal team nor she had any knowledge of his interest in the Broadway production.
"Neither I, nor anybody on my team, ever met, communicated with, or invited Jeffrey Epstein to anything," Rowling stated in response to the social media allegations. The author remains adamant that the entire narrative surrounding her supposed involvement is "beyond silly".
Epstein reportedly even mailed his publicist, writing, "Couldn’t get in. No biggy but thought you should know.”
In fact, the confusion regarding the guest list appears to have originated from the very middleman rather than the primary production office.

The investigation into the invite list centers on Peggy Siegel, a prominent showbiz publicist who acted as a liaison for the billionaire. According to Deadline, she contacted Playground Entertainment boss Colin Callender to secure a spot for a nameless important friend. Callender initially agreed to help before the identity of the guest was ever disclosed to the primary production team.
Once the name of Jeffrey Epstein was finally provided to the staff, the situation became a logistical and ethical failure for the event organizers. Callender has since clarified that the millionaire was never part of the original list.

Jeffrey Epstein later messaged Siegel to report that he could not gain access to the theater because the man behind the Netflix docuseries, Jeffrey Epstein's name was missing from the door. While the publicist was reportedly furious and demanded an apology from the production company, the executives refused to offer any such regret.
