JFK Biopic Star Paul Anthony Kelly Claps Back at Criticism From JFK Jr.’s Nephew Over ‘Love Story’

Ryan Murphy is diving back into the complexities of American royalty, but the heirs to that legacy are not rolling out the red carpet.
The upcoming limited series Love Story has become a lightning rod for controversy before a single episode has even aired. While the trailer promises a glamorous look at the 1990s, it has also reignited old wounds for those who lived through the actual tragedy. The tension between historical storytelling and family privacy is reaching a boiling point as the premiere date approaches.
The actors involved are now finding themselves in the uncomfortable position of defending their creative choices against family members.

Paul Anthony Kelly faces the Kennedy backlash
According to Variety, Paul Anthony Kelly, who portrays John F. Kennedy Jr. in the series Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette, has recently addressed the heavy criticism coming from the Kennedy estate. Jack Schlossberg, the nephew of JFK Jr., has been particularly accusing the creators of exploiting his family's grief. Kelly responded by noting that the intense scrutiny surrounding the project only emphasizes how deeply people still care about the subject matter.
“First of all, this is a love story. That’s something that everyone can relate to. They were such public figures that there was no escaping that, but they went through what everyone dreams of — falling in love. But everyone’s entitled to their opinion.” Paul Anthony Kelly said, as mentioned by Variety.
According to Variety, Jack Schlossberg has even taken personal aim at Ryan Murphy on social media, using derogatory language and questioning the ethics of producing a multimillion-dollar series about a private love life. The actor, however, remains focused on the universal themes of the narrative rather than the digital name-calling.
The production details reveal a massive effort to recreate the specific atmosphere of 1990s Manhattan.
