Jesse Eisenberg recently shed light on his decision to not reprise his role as Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Reckoning. Eisenberg first played Zuckerberg in the 2010 film, The Social Network. When talks about the sequel began, Aaron Sorkin naturally approached him to reprise his role.

He reportedly spent three days trying to persuade Eisenberg to return, but the actor ultimately declined the role. During a recent press conference, Eisenberg finally revealed why he was so unyielding about not returning for The Social Reckoning.

During his recent appearance at the San Sebastian Film Festival to promote his latest feature, The Debut, Jesse Eisenberg was asked why he chose to walk away from Aaron Sorkin's upcoming follow-up. While he had nothing but praise for the first movie and its concept, he chose not to return because it did not align with the direction he wanted to take.

"It just didn’t feel like something I wanted to act in again," said Eisenberg, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Eisenberg also expressed strong support for Jeremy Strong taking over the role of Mark Zuckerberg.

"The movie will be a great movie, and Jeremy Strong will be amazing in the movie. I’m sure," he said, as per THR.

Eisenberg also expressed his discomfort with the public associating his face and name with the tech mogul. He did not want to be conflated with Zuckerberg anymore and felt it was creatively time to move in completely different directions.
