However, there is no official update on a potential reunion. In the interview with Entertainment Tonight, the producer also addressed the progress of the much-anticipated Days of Thunder sequel starring Cruise. He confirmed that they are working hard on the project and are currently focused on completing the script before moving into production.
While the movie is expected to begin filming in 2027, there has also been an update on a potential delay for the F1 sequel.
Why is the F1 sequel facing a delay?
After the success of Brad Pitt’s F1 movie, a sequel was quickly confirmed and is already in the works. However, the film could face a slight delay, as Kerry Condon revealed in an interview with ScreenRant’s Ash Crossan during The Pressure junket. She explained that the team is currently waiting for director Joseph Kosinski.
“I have heard about that, and they all love the script, but I guess it's going to be when Joe, our director, is available, and then also we have to go with the F1 schedule,” she said.

Joseph Kosinski has had quite a hectic schedule following the success of Top Gun: Maverick and F1, so the director will have to clear his schedule to dedicate his time to the sequel. Not to mention, much like the first film, the second installment will likely be filmed around Grand Prix weekends. So, it may be a while before the movie arrives in theaters and fans find out whether a Cruise and Pitt reunion is actually possible.
