Jeremy Strong does not feel the need to apologize even if his method acting makes people uncomfortable around him. Method acting has long occupied a polarizing space in Hollywood lore, transforming over the decades from a romanticized badge of ultimate artistic devotion into a lightning rod for public and industry debate.
While the practice of total psychological immersion was once universally revered, it has increasingly faced intense scrutiny and backlash in recent years - a cultural reckoning that is once again commanding the spotlight, heavily fueled by Emmy-winning chameleon Jeremy Strong.
The actor has now made it clear how he feels if people around him find his method acting to be a bother to them.
Jeremy Strong refuses to apologize for his method acting
Jeremy Strong, whose relentless commitment to method acting has become Hollywood legend, recently made it clear that he feels no obligation to apologize to colleagues who might find his hyper-focused process overly intense. During a recent appearance on The New Yorker Radio Hour podcast, the Emmy-winning star of Aaron Sorkin's upcoming The Social Reckoning was pressed by host and editor-in-chief David Remnick.
Specifically, Remnick questioned how much Strong believes his deep psychological immersion genuinely aids his directors and co-stars, or conversely, whether it tends to disrupt the dynamic on set. Addressing how his intense process impacts those around him, Strong admitted he could not fully speak to how others perceive it, emphasizing that his primary intention is never to interfere with a colleague's workflow or set experience.
“If some people feel that I’m taking it too seriously, or it changes the molecules in the room in a way that makes something uncomfortable, I guess that’s something that I don’t feel that I need to apologize for,” clarified Strong.

He further noted in The New Yorker Radio Hour podcast that both he and the filmmakers he collaborates with firmly believe the approach is entirely in service of the material, adding his perspective that much of the surrounding criticism tends to stem from personal reactions rather than professional concerns. When Remnick pressed further, asking if he grows frustrated with co-stars who share a less rigorous approach, Strong deflected any notion of judgment, clarifying simply that his sole focus on set is total dedication to serving the material.
Notably, Strong’s method acting has been a subject of widespread discourse, especially after his collaborators publicly spoke about his acting approach.
Jeremy Strong’s peers on his method acting
Jeremy Strong's intense immersion techniques have long been an active discussion point. In September on 2025, Aaron Sorkin revealed to The New York Times that the actor treated his co-stars "the way he imagines" Zuckerberg would on set. Meanwhile, Strong's former Succession co-star Brian Cox has frequently aimed at the practice, famously labeling it "f****** annoying," though he later offered a more balanced appraisal.
