The Boys is a special series for many. And the reason is simple, it brought a fresh outlook on the superhero genre - a haunting reality of a world that is riddled with superhumans. But now, the beloved supe satire is in its endgame, and the main series will soon wrap up its storyline with the upcoming season 5. However, the universe of The Boys will live on, and the latest addition to this world has already been announced.

Following the announcement, Jensen Ackles has provided further information on the prequel series to The Boys.

The Boys season 5 will conclude the flagship series, but the imminent premiere of a prequel series called Vought Rising has already confirmed that the show's universe will grow. Jensen Ackles, who will play Soldier Boy again in the prequel series, said in an interview with Collider that the spinoff is anticipated to run for several seasons.

“When they pitched it, they were like, 'Hey, we're thinking about doing this prequel thing, going back to the 1950s with Soldier Boy.' I don't think I let them finish the sentence before I was like, 'Yes!' But I know that the intent is to have it be a multi-season show," Ackles said in the interview.

Vought Rising has not yet been assigned an official release date. Since production began last summer, it is anticipated to be released in late 2026 or early 2027. Now, it is a presumption, but filming for season 2 might start before the show even premieres if the series is going to run for numerous seasons, but further details about that will probably be officially confirmed in the upcoming months.

Vought Rising - what else do we know?

There are some details available about Vought Rising's storyline that have come from executive producer and showrunner Paul Grellong. These reveals indicate that the spinoff will diverge significantly from The Boys. The drama, which is set in the 1950s and is presented as a murder investigation, will highlight both Soldier Boy and Stormfront's (played by Aya Cash) early adventures and exploits.

The main cast members, aside from Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash, include Mason Dye as Bombsight, Elizabeth Posey as Private Angel, Ethan Slater as Thomas Godolkin, and Will Hochman as Torpedo. The additional cast includes KiKi Layne, Mark Pellegrino, Eric Johnson, David Hewlett, and Cecily Strong in important roles. The first season of Vought Rising is anticipated to have eight episodes, just like every other season of The Boys. And as Jensen Ackles suggested, there will be more to come after that.
