After The Boys bids its final goodbye after an explosive Season 5 on May 20, a story from the past will be explored in its prequel series, Vought Rising. Jensen Ackles, who is returning to reprise his role as Soldier Boy, revealed that while Vought Rising has the same DNA as The Boys, it will be very different from the original show. Understandably, both series belong to the same universe and will likely feature the same brutal, gory action and ruthless villains.

However, as Ackles suggested, there is much more to expect from the prequel spin-off series.

Jensen Ackles, in his interview with Entertainment Tonight, called the end of The Boys “bittersweet” and added that his character's journey will continue in Vought Rising. Notably, the Supernatural actor has already filmed the first season of the prequel spin-off. When asked about the show, Ackles said that Vought Rising which carries the same spirit as The Boys, will be much different since it is set on a different timeline.

“I mean, in The Boys, in modern time, he's a fish out of water. He's an analogue guy,” Ackles said.

"He's trapped in a digital world. So now we see him in his element. We see him kind of what made him who he was,” Ackles further explained.

The show will explore Soldier Boy and his origins, along with several other characters from the past. At the same time, it will also explore Vought International’s early days and its rise to power. As Eric Kripke and showrunner Paul Grellong previously hinted at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, the series will follow the same blood-soaked style as The Boys while also exploring the events around Compound V.

"We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V," Eric Kripke and Paul Grellong shared with Amazon MGM Studio
