Jennifer Lawrence has more or less made a brand out of being delightfully flaky. From her quirky humor to her famously embarrassing moments, the actress has given pop culture plenty of material over the years. Whether it was her tripping over her dress on the Oscars stairs or meeting Francis Ford Coppola barefoot with an unzipped dress, her awkward antics have become almost as recognizable as her movie roles. And recently, she has pulled off one such a moment again.

Not only has she given the internet another viral meme, but this latest blunder has almost perfectly mirrored her Hunger Games persona.

Jennifer Lawrence pulled a Jennifer Lawrence again

The blunder occurred when Jennifer Lawrence was presenting the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers at the 2026 awards ceremony on Friday. A hilarious slip of the tongue saw her confuse “fashion” with “fascism,” which drew a lot of laughter from the crowd.

“To all the candidates, congratulations. Your passion shows that fascism—fascism? Excuse me. Fashion isn't just about clothes," said Lawrence.

Fans drew parallels between this moment and Lawrence’s on-screen character in Hunger Games. Reason being her character, Katniss, was known for attacking the pillars of Panem's fascist regime in the fictional universe. The internet joked that Katniss's deep-seated hatred for totalitarian regimes was so deeply ingrained in Lawrence's subconscious that the word just slipped out of the actress’ mouth.

Plus, the timing could not be more perfect, with the Hunger Games franchise once again in the spotlight ahead of Sunrise on the Reaping's release.

What to expect from Sunrise on the Reaping

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping takes fans back to the Second Quarter Quell, the 50th Hunger Games, where a 16-year-old Haymitch Abernathy faces the brutality of Panem. Katniss, played by Jennifer Lawrence, has not been born yet during the main events of the 50th Hunger Games as this is a prequel set 24 years before the original trilogy.

Nonetheless, Lawrence is still returning to shoot scenes for a flash-forward sequence or epilogue, alongside an exciting ensemble. The prequel novel was released last year and the film adaptation, Sunrise on the Reaping, is scheduled to hit theaters and IMAX globally on November 20, 2026.
