Jennifer Lawrence Says the Internet Ruined Her Chance to Work With Quentin Tarantino

Jennifer Lawrence has built her career portraying fearless, emotionally complex women, embracing demanding roles from The Hunger Games to Die My Love. That speaks volumes about her extraordinary range and how the actress is unafraid to step outside her comfort zone. Having won an Academy Award at just the age of 22, she is one of the most successful actresses. However, the absence of one role from her award clad shelf still stings deep to the actress.

While Jennifer Lawrence has dipped her fingers in various genres and danced to the tune of various directors, a Quentin Tarantino sized gap remains in her filmography, no thanks to the actress or the director.

After her brilliant performance in Die My Love, Jennifer Lawrence opened up about the chatter about her playing a role in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. In her recent conversation, Jennifer Lawrence admitted that Quentin Tarantino had shown interest in casting her for the 2019 film. However, she believes that she missed out on the role after online trolls claimed she was not a good fit to play Sharon Tate.

“And then everybody was like, ‘She’s not pretty enough to play Sharon Tate,'” she said on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “And then they didn’t.”

The role ultimately went to Margot Robbie, who portrayed Sharon Tate in Quentin Tarantino’s film. While speaking to Josh Horowitz, Jennifer Lawrence also spoke about another regret when she admitted to having turned down the role of Daisy Domergue in The Hateful Eight. Regardless, none of these turn downs stopped the actress from either falling on Oscar stages or stunning at Golden Globes red carpets.

While she did not add any further details, several fans speculated that Jennifer Lawrence’s comment might be about the newest movie. Even though the upcoming film is set 24 years before Katniss ever volunteered as a tribute, there is hope for the actress to return for a small part. But nothing is confirmed until the movie is released on November 20, 2026.

But if Jennifer Lawrence does appear, it would be an exciting one for the fans who have been waiting for the older cast to return. After all, Jennifer Lawrence has never stopped surprising with her performances or the roles she takes.
