Jennifer Lawrence is all set to gear up for Zach Cregger’s new sci-fi thriller. The Die My Love actress has several acclaimed films to her name, as well as an Oscar win. Best known for her role as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games franchise, she has also dipped her toes into other genres such as sci-fi and horror thrillers.

After starring in the film Passengers, she is set to take on another role in yet another sci-fi film as the actress is set to lead in Cregger’s upcoming project.

As recently announced, Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence is set to star in Zach Cregger’s new sci-fi thriller, The Flood. The script was written by Weapons director Cregger, who will also direct and produce the film. Roy Lee and Miri Yoon of Vertigo Entertainment will also produce alongside Amblin Entertainment.

The project was initially developed at Netflix before going into turnaround and eventually being picked up by Warner Bros.’ New Line division. New Line was also behind Cregger’s oscar nominated film, Weapons. While it has been revealed that The Flood is based on an original idea, plot details have not yet been disclosed.

As of now, the studio is eyeing a theatrical release for the movie on August 11, 2028. Production could begin in Europe in early 2027. Cregger, along with Warner Bros. co-chairs Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy, expressed their excitement in a press release (via Variety) about bringing the Oscar-winning actress on board.

“Jennifer is one of a kind, and I’m beyond excited to see her in this role,” Cregger said.

While it remains to be seen what character Lawrence will play in Cregger’s new film, the actress has already hinted at a fascinating schedule ahead.

Jennifer Lawrence is set to appear in Martin Scorsese’s Gothic psychological horror film What Happens at Night. The film is adapted by Patrick Marber from Peter Cameron’s 2020 novel of the same name. It follows an American couple who travel to a small town in Europe to adopt a child, but encounter a series of struggles along the way. 

Lawrence will be joined by Leonardo DiCaprio, Casino Royale actor Mads Mikkelsen, and Jared Harris. The film is one of the most anticipated upcoming projects, although no release date has been announced yet. Lawrence is also expected to appear in the Hunger Games prequel Sunrise on the Reaping, although her involvement has not been officially confirmed. Until more updates about her upcoming films arrive, fans will have to wait patiently.
