This year, Widow's Bay broke the all-time record for a comedy series at the Emmys. It won 14 Emmy Awards, surpassing The Studio's record last year, and became the most Emmy-awarded freshman comedy series in television history. Jeff Hiller played Dale, an awkward Town Hall employee who was originally written as a minor character. They were supposed to write him off early on in the show.

But Hiller’s improvisational skills, animated expressions, and strong on-set chemistry led the creators to rewrite his character. Now, fresh off the show’s success, Hiller is stepping into another supernatural thriller for CBS.

Jeff Hiller is joining CBS’ comedy series Eternally Yours as a guest star. According to Deadline, the actor will make his debut in the third episode and appear in multiple episodes throughout the season. Eternally Yours revolves around Liz and Charles, two vampires who have been married for 500 years. They are in a bit of trouble with their daughter, who is now dating a human.  

Both Liz and Charles struggle to accept their daughter’s relationship. Meanwhile, Hiller plays Aldrict, an old-world vampire who has been a menace to Liz and crossed paths with her several times over the centuries. As per Deadline, the role also reunites Hiller with Joe Port and Joe Wiseman, the showrunners behind the new CBS series, who previously worked with the actor on Ghosts.

Ghosts was a #1 Comedy on broadcast television, where Hiller also appeared as a guest star.  

Jeff Hiller previously made a memorable guest appearance on CBS’ Ghosts during its fifth season. In the Season 5 episode St. Hetty’s Day 2: The Help, Hiller played Jeff, an intense but highly sensitive and deeply empathetic elite fine-dining server. The role gave Hiller plenty of room to play up the character’s emotional side while bringing his own comedic touch to the episode.

Hiller’s turn on Ghosts became a memorable one for the show’s creative team. Showrunners Joe Port and Joe Wiseman enjoyed their collaboration so much that they decided to bring him into their new vampire comedy, Eternally Yours.
