Jason Bateman is having a rather eventful 2026 with two of his projects vying for the Emmys simultaneously. Two different shows with two different characters on opposite sides of the spectrum, with Vince from Netflix’s Black Rabbit being a chaotic gambling addict and Clark of HBO Max’s DTF St. Louis being a sincere weatherman entangled in a murder mystery.
The range of the actor never ceases to amaze you, and that is why he has also earned DGA and Actor Award nominations for his role in Black Rabbit. A career as decorated as this surely deserves a biopic, and he has just the actor in mind for it.
He has named his close friend and former co-star, Ryan Reynolds, at the top of his biopic wishlist.

Jason Bateman names Ryan Reynolds as a possible biopic choice
Jason Bateman recently had an in-depth conversation with Deadline, where he opened up about the very first lesson he received on set, that too from the legendary Katharine Hepburn. The conversation then steered towards DTF St. Louis, Arrested Development, before finally reaching the question about his biopic.
“Oh my god. I don’t know. I so admire the guys that do what I try to do, the Ben Stillers and the Paul Rudds and the Ryan Reynolds,” Bateman said.
When asked about who he would like to play him in his biopic, Bateman obviously went straight into a conundrum, but still picked a few he thinks would be the best to portray him on the big screen. While he names Ben Stiller and Paul Rudd as the potential candidates, he also mentions his buddy and The Change-Up co-star, Ryan Reynolds.
But he also does not forget to remind the interviewer that he is still alive while also acknowledging that all the actors he listed would do a fine job. But his remark suggests that he is not ready for a biopic yet. The interview with Deadline went well beyond the professional plane in this regard and ventured a little into the personal side of the actor.
On the professional front, Jason Bateman has some exciting projects lined up.

There seems to be more coming from Jason Bateman, and at an age when most filmmakers begin to consider slowing down, he is just getting started. That might be the reason why he is just not yet ready for a biopic on himself. He knows that there is so much in him still left to tell the world, and he is taking it all one day at a time.
