The Television Academy recognized Bateman with four Primetime Emmy nominations this year, making him one of the busiest names in the race. He received acting and directing nominations for Netflix's Black Rabbit, while HBO's DTF St. Louis brought him nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series and as an executive producer in the Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series category. The haul also pushes his career tally to 15 Emmy nominations, further cementing a résumé that already includes his 2019 directing win for Ozark. 

That versatility is on full display in DTF St. Louis, HBO's darkly comic limited series created by Steven Conrad. Co-starring David Harbour, Linda Cardellini, Richard Jenkins, and Peter Sarsgaard, the seven-episode series disguises a murder mystery beneath suburban malaise, marital frustration, and the chaos unleashed by a dating app designed for secret affairs. Bateman plays Clark Forrest, a local weatherman whose seemingly ordinary life slowly unravels as the nonlinear narrative peels back each character's hidden motivations.
