James Gunn Adds ‘Lantern’ Star to the Already Crowded Cape Rack of ‘Man of Tomorrow’
James Gunn appears to be building a superhero guest list that reads less like a call sheet and more like a convention marquee. After the successful run of Superman, the director has already assembled a formidable ensemble for Man of Tomorrow, with David Corenswet returning as Clark Kent alongside Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, while Lars Eidinger’s Brainiac promises trouble of the cosmic variety.
And just when the lineup already feels stacked, the roster appears ready for a Green Lantern glow.

Aaron Pierre, already portraying Green Lantern hero John Stewart in HBO’s upcoming DC series Lanterns, has joined the cast of Man of Tomorrow, according to The Hollywood Reporter. His addition signals Gunn’s ongoing mission to merge the DC movies and television series into one seamless universe.
Gunn, who wrote the script and will direct, begins production this summer in Atlanta. The film explores the cosmic clash between Superman and Brainiac, and Pierre’s Stewart fits naturally into this space-faring narrative, adding intergalactic law enforcement to a story already teeming with alien adventures.
As a Green Lantern, John Stewart is one of the space cops responsible for patrolling Earth and its sector. His inclusion in Man of Tomorrow strengthens the connective tissue between television and cinema, allowing the DC screen universe to expand without losing narrative coherence.
While James Gunn may have put a lid on the Wonder Woman speculation, Man of Tomorrow is holding a full deck of delights.
The cosmic clout of Man of Tomorrow
James Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow, landing July 9, 2027, is poised to blast the DCU into overdrive. Lars Eidinger will embody Brainiac, the infamous 'collector of worlds,' marking the villain’s first live-action appearance and promising a threat so big even Superman may need a roadmap. Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor is rumored to temporarily shake hands with Superman, forming an uneasy alliance against Brainiac.

Fans are equally excited for Luthor’s green-and-purple Warsuit, a classic look finally realized on screen, whose loyalties may swing from friend to foe in true DC fashion. Between cosmic villains, a Warsuit-wearing Luthor, and a universe-spanning cast, Man of Tomorrow promises a DCU spectacle that fans will not want to miss.
