New reports suggest the iconic spy franchise is looking forward to casting the critically acclaimed actor, who was a Best Actor contender at the Oscars 2026, as the next major villain to battle 007. According to Radar Online, Brazilian actor Wagner Moura is being considered for the role in Denis Villeneuve’s next James Bond film.
The outlet's source pointed to Moura's compelling screen presence coated in menace and breathtaking charm, crucial to hold ground against the iconic spy during a face-off.
"What makes Wagner Moura stand out is that he can command a scene without raising his voice. He has a natural warmth and charm that draws viewers in, but at the same time, there's always an edge underneath it that suggests the character could turn dangerous at any moment," the outlet's source highlighted,
Moura has made a name for himself in the industry with his stellar performance as Pablo Escobar in Narcos, as well as by appearing in films like Civil War, The Gray Man, The Secret Agent, and more, as well as the TV adaptation of Mr. & Mrs. Smith. He also appeared in shows like Shining Girls, Dope Thief, and more. However, Moura is not the only one being eyed for the role of the new Bond villain.

The 53-year-old French actor is being eyed for his sophiscated charm that he could contribute to the role. Dujardin earned the Oscar for Best Actor in 2012 for The Artist.

Meanwhile, German actor Friedel, who has starred in The White Lotus, is considered for the same role for his ability to blend humor with unsettling intensity.
