In fact, she even had her own talk show, Red Table Talk, to talk about them, up until recently. After the Meta show was canceled, the host came forward with her plans to write a memoir, Worthy. While the memoir is set to release on October 17th, initial reviews and excerpts have made various new relations that are nothing less than a surprise for her fans. And a recent one comes from an exclusive interview for her memoir promotion.
Almost two years after <a href="https://www.netflixjunkie.com/tag/will-smith/">Will Smith</a>&#8216;s slapgate incident, Jada has revealed that there may have been more than one reason behind the 2022 Oscar incident in a recent interview. Talking about the same, she also revealed a call she had with Chris Rock prior to the fiasco in 2022. But what exactly was the call about?
<h2>Jada Pinkett Smith shares details of a phone call with Chris Rock</h2>
Even before they separated 7 years back, there were rumors about Will and Jada Smith&#8217;s divorce all the media. Amidst this, she received a call from Chris Rock who once asked her out after divorce rumors took over the internet, <a href="https://people.com/jada-pinkett-smith-says-chris-rock-asked-her-out-on-a-date-amid-rumors-she-and-will-were-divorcing-exclusive-8349420" target="_blank" rel="noopener">as revealed in a recent interview with People</a>, &#8220;He called me and basically he was like, I&#8217;d love to take you out,&#8221; she shared. She continued that she was confused about the entire thing and asked the Grown Ups star what he meant.

The Red Table Talk host claimed that Rock had answered by saying, &#8220;Well, aren&#8217;t you and Will getting a divorce?&#8221; Once she told him that those were &#8220;just rumors,&#8221; she continued how he immediately apologized for the same. The Bad Moms actress clarified that the call had taken place back in 2016, almost 6 years before. She further revealed how she felt that the <a href="https://www.netflixjunkie.com/hollywood-news-after-eighteen-months-of-rigid-silence-jada-pinkett-smith-finally-reveals-her-reaction-to-the-infamous-will-smith-oscar-slapgate/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">whole affair was a planned &#8220;skit&#8221;. For her, it was unimaginable that Will could hit someone like that.</a>

However, the Matrix actress also revealed in her memoir and the interview, that this was not the first time that she and Chris Rock had bumped heads at the Oscars.
<h2>Jada Pinkett Smith addresses the 2016 Oscar &#8220;misunderstanding&#8221; with Chris Rock</h2>
During the same interview with People, Jada also claimed that &#8220;there might be some misunderstanding&#8221; between her and Chris Rock. While most thought she was referring to the Oscar incident, she went on to clarify that she was talking about the one that happened in 2016. She went on to say that the misunderstanding went down when she decided to boycott the award ceremony, as there were no recognized actors of color that year. Even Will was overlooked for his performance in Concussion.

She also admitted that she did &#8220;not really recognize&#8221; the level of pressure that the Madagascar voice actor was under at the time. But things may have taken a turn for the worse when she told him, the host, to quit the job just to support the cause. Though they have since apologized to each other and Jada thought the &#8220;hatchet was buried.&#8221; However, this changed for her in 2022.
