But book lovers are sure to find a great adaptation which already had entertained the readers decades with its gripping storyline.

Story line of the upcoming Gothic drama

In the book Outer Dark, Cormac McCarthy explored the dark theme of a bloodline affair, which sees a young lady, Rinthy, giving birth to her brother Culla’s child. Things, already distorted, take an even worse turn when her brother lies to Rinthy about the infant’s death and eventual burial of the child in a deep forest, but actually hid it. As she learns of this deception, Rinthy sets out on her own to find the infant. But as the siblings get separated, moving through the countryside, three strangers start tailing them, bringing bad omens with them.

Outer Dark is set in Appalachia during the Great Depression and will be made by Oscar-winning Son Of Saul filmmaker Laszlo Nemes. He has written the screenplay with Clara Royer and is also producing the movie alongside Mike Goodridge. About the project, Nemes has said at Cannes, since reading the book, it has been his dream to make it into a film, and to find the appropriate cinematic language that would do justice to Cormac McCarthy’s evocative and cosmological work.

As eager and excited are the fans are over this adaptation, they would have to wait as the movie and the lead cast have just been announced. The movie is expected to be released somewhere in 2026, but we do not have a fixed date yet, although Laszlo Nemes feels that he has found the perfect cast in the two magnetic actors.
