With Spider-Man: Brand New Day swinging into theaters, the internet has done what it does best. It brought back a fresh wave of familiar memes and inside jokes. One of the targets is also Jacob Batalon, who plays Peter Parker's loyal best friend, Ned Leeds, but the jokes have nothing to do with Ned's friendship.

Instead, Batalon was given a hilariously unexpected moniker, “CEO of S**” after he made his MCU debut in Spider-Man: Homecoming back in 2017. Nearly a decade later, the internet still has not let go of the bizarre moniker. While the inspiration for the meme remains a secret, Batalon has chosen to accept it.

Jacob Batalon shows grace accepted bizarre moniker CEO of S**

Jacob Batalon recently sat down with Complex and was asked about being crowned the "CEO of S**." The Filipino American actor admitted he does not think the nickname started as a compliment, but over the years, he has decided to embrace it anyway. Leaning into the joke, Batalon hilariously clarified that the title does not mean he is involved in any shady line of work.

“I'm not pushing this narrative on anybody. I swear to God. I don’t know who blessed me with this, but thanks,” he said.

When asked whether the nickname had ever been considered to be featured in a Spider-Man movie, Batalon joked that it might be a little confusing for audiences. Still, he admitted it could make for a hilarious gag. This is not the first time he has addressed the bizarre meme, either.

Back in 2025, Batalon spoke about its mysterious origins, saying he had already embraced the nickname. He also revealed that his fiancée found the whole thing surprisingly interesting.

“I'm not going to turn it down. Also, my fiancée was just like... very much intrigued by it,” he told ScreenRant.

While the internet continues to have fun with the nickname, another hilarious Batalon moment may have flown under the radar. Earlier this year, the actor jokingly teased that his Spider-Man: Brand New Day co-star had "copied" him by getting engaged.

Jacob Batalon tied the knot with longtime girlfriend

Tom Holland and Zendaya sparked engagement rumors in January 2025 after the actress was spotted wearing a dazzling diamond ring at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards. Just two months later, Jacob Batalon announced his own engagement to longtime girlfriend Veronica Leahov, sharing a carousel of proposal photos on Instagram. Later that year, during an interview with People, Batalon joked that his Spider-Man co-stars had "copied" him by getting engaged, even if they were the first to announce it.

"They copied me," Batalon said. "They took my s***. That was my s*** first."

While Batalon's comment was clearly made in jest, both Spider-Man co-stars were also secretive about their wedding plans. Holland and Zendaya appeared to have quietly tied the knot without making a public announcement, while Batalon and Leahov also managed to keep their wedding a secret. It was not confirmed until the actor once referred to Leahov as his "wife" during an interview with Heart. So, if there is one thing Batalon has mastered besides playing Ned Leeds, it is certainly his sense of humor.
