Jack Whitehall & Nina Dobrev Lead Star-Studded Rom-Com ‘Honeymooners’ With Andie MacDowell & Greg Kinnear
Jack Whitehall and Nina Dobrev are joining forces with Greg Kinnear and Andie MacDowell for a new romantic comedy titled Honeymooners. The film, directed by Daryl Wein, is bringing together four performers from distinctly different corners of the entertainment industry for a story about marriage, family and unexpected second chances. With Italy serving as its backdrop, the project is preparing to take a familiar romantic comedy formula on a rather complicated family holiday.
Honeymooners has assembled a cast with plenty of romantic comedy experience between them. And its premise suggests that the honeymoon might be the least romantic part of the entire adventure.

Jack Whitehall and Nina Dobrev will play Freddy and Cleo, a London couple who have secretly divorced but believe they can remain friends. Whitehall, known for his quick comic timing in projects such as Jungle Cruise and Netflix's Malice, steps into a story that gives him plenty of room for his comedic instincts. Dobrev, who became internationally recognizable through The Vampire Diaries, has also explored romantic comedy with Love Hard and The Out-Laws. Their pairing brings together two performers with experience navigating comedy, romance and the occasional relationship disaster on screen.
The supporting cast adds another layer of familiarity for audiences. As per Deadline, Greg Kinnear, an Academy Award nominee for As Good As It Gets, will play Freddy's father, Marty, while Andie MacDowell takes on the role of his mother, Julie. Kinnear's credits include Little Miss Sunshine and You've Got Mail, while MacDowell remains closely associated with romantic comedy favorites such as Four Weddings and a Funeral and Groundhog Day. Their characters arrange a surprise Italian honeymoon for Freddy and Cleo, unaware that the couple has already separated.
But the casting is only one part of the project's growing appeal. With an established filmmaker behind the camera and international sales now getting underway, Honeymooners is also beginning to attract attention in the film market ahead of its production.

The film is scheduled to begin shooting in Italy in the first quarter of 2027, with its vineyard setting outside Rome providing the backdrop for the family complications. On the distribution front, HanWay Films is launching international sales at the American Film Market, one of the major annual gatherings where independent film producers, distributors and financiers negotiate projects for territories around the world. CAA Media Finance is representing the film for North American sales.
As Honeymooners prepares for its Italian production, its combination of family secrets, second chances and an unlikely honeymoon, with Nina Dobrev's one more role, could offer a fresh spin on the genre.
