Uma Thurman was barely 4 years old when she had her first encounter with the police. The actress has played the role of a crime boss’s wife in Pulp Fiction, as well as a bitter assassin seeking revenge in Kill Bill. So, the actress has played several characters who did not mind breaking the law or having a run-in with the police.

But, in real life, the actress recalled getting scared when she narrated her hilarious story about running into the police and even ending up in the back of a police car.

Uma Thurman recently appeared on an episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she recalled that her first encounter with the police happened after her family moved to Amherst, Massachusetts, where her father worked. She remembered seeing a pair of red high-heeled shoes in a store and later taking 75 cents from her house to buy them. However, she left the house without her mother's knowledge.

Although she put on a convincing performance at the store, pretending that her mother was on her way, the store owner eventually realized that she might not be telling the truth. She remembered that the police had also arrived at the time.  Thurman recalled that, because she was so young and could not remember the name of the street she lived on, the police took her along in their car.

"I remember it so well because I've never been so scared in my entire life, because I really thought I was getting arrested. And I sort of was. So this was probably very friendly but terrifying to me, a police officer held me on his lap in the back of the squad car," she said.

During the interview, the actress recalled that she could not recognize her own house, so the police had to keep driving around in search of it. This continued until they spotted a woman screaming in the street and realized they had found the girl’s mother. While the experience must have been scary for a three-year-old at the time, it has since turned into a seemingly hilarious memory for the actress.

As for her professional life, Thurman has once again taken up the role of Charley Brown in Season 2 of Dexter: Resurrection.

In Season 1 of Dexter: Resurrection, Uma Thurman played the role of a former Special Ops officer, Charley Brown. She served as the right-hand woman to billionaire serial-k***** enthusiast Prater. She returned to reprise her role in Season 2 of the show. 

The second season will follow Dexter as he finds himself caught between two dangerous k******. Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Saraf, Dominic Fumusa, and Desmond Harrington are also part of the cast. The next season will premiere on October 30, 2026, on Paramount+.
