"It's Still Wild" - Shawn Hatosy Never Even Dreamed He’d Win an Emmy for 'The Pitt'

Shawn Hatosy’s Emmy win at the 77th Creative Arts Emmy Awards was something he never dreamt of. Hatosy won an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series in 2025 for his role as Dr. Jack Abbot in the HBO Max medical drama The Pitt. He also received a supporting actor nomination for the subsequent season of the show. And like countless other actors in the industry, Hatosy never saw such a milestone coming. 

During a recent candid interview, Hatosy shared just how stunned he was on the night of the Emmys.

The Warner Bros. Television Group recently hosted their annual Emmy Awards Nominees Celebration. During a candid chat with Variety at the event, Shawn Hatosy shared that achieving such a massive level of success was beyond what he ever imagined as a child.

"I don't think I imagined that kind of night, a success like that. Even in my hopes and dreams as a kid, you don't think about that stuff. You want to do good work."

Hatosy plays a combat veteran and former SWAT team/combat medic who transitions to an attending physician in The Pitt. His character, Dr. Jack Abbot, acts as a peer and foil to Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch, played by Noah Wyle.

Apart from Hatosy, many other actors from The Pitt have also been nominated for the Emmys this year. 

The Pitt leads the pack at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards

The Pitt leads the pack at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, with 25 total nominations for its second season. Last year Noah Wyle won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards. This year too he has been nominated in the same category. Cast members like Taylor Dearden (Dr. Mel King), Fiona Dourif (Dr. Cassie McKay), KatherineLaNasa, Sepideh Moafi, Patrick Ball, Gerran Howell, Shawn Hatosy all are competing in the supporting categories.

There are also guest categories, which include nominations for Brittany Allen (Roxie Hamler), Tal Anderson (Becca King), Tina Ivlev (Ilana Miller), Ernest Harden Jr. (Louie Cloverfield) and Jeff Kober (Duke Ekins). Meanwhile, Shawn Hatosy has been nominated in the Outstanding Supporting Actor category, marking a transition from the first season, where he won the Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor.
