Robert Pattinson undoubtedly stole the show in Christopher Nolan's 2026 blockbuster, The Odyssey. He slipped into the silk robes of the sleazy, cowardly villain, Antonious in Homer's epic. Instead of playing a typical bad guy, this time Pattinson brought a very wild, eccentric energy to the role. Critics and audiences, alongside co-stars like Anne Hathaway and Tom Holland, loved his unhinged performance. And even though he only filmed for a short period as the villain Antinous, the scale of the production blew him away.

During a recent interview, Pattinson reflected on his time working on the massive $250 million IMAX production, comparing the film to almost a pyramid.

Robert Pattinson on The Odyssey's making

Robert Pattinson recently compared the production of The Odyssey to building a pyramid. The actor was completely blown away by the sheer size and effort it took Christopher Nolan to build the world of the movie.

"Chris Nolan is obviously like king of the universe... I was only a small part of that shoot which was, you know, one of the most epic shoots of film history. It was really like watching somebody build one of the pyramids, it was crazy," Pattinson said.

According to Pattinson, watching Nolan direct and manage such a colossal, $250 million IMAX project felt like witnessing an ancient world wonder being built from scratch.

"To see what's happened with the movie afterwards. I mean, it's so crazy."

Pattinson also shared how he was approached for a role in the Matt Damon starrer in the first place.

The actor was already busy shooting Die, My Love, when Christopher Nolan pitched the idea of The Odyssey to him.

Christopher Nolan surprised Robert Pattinson with a spontaneous call

Christopher Nolan reportedly reached out to Robert Pattinson with a casual phone call while the actor was busy filming Die, My Love under director Lynne Ramsay. Having previously worked together on Tenet and being neighbors in real life, the two shared a bit of a familiar rapport. This allowed Nolan to skip the usual agent-mediated casting process and lengthy pitch meetings when reaching out to the Twilight actor.

Nolan reportedly got straight to the point when he called Pattinson unexpectedly, asking about his availability for the upcoming year. The actor was completely starstruck but did his best to keep his composure. Despite some initial self-doubt about joining a production of that magnitude, Pattinson read the script, arranged his schedule around The Batman, and ultimately agreed to portray Antinous, the film's villainous suitor.
