Rupert Grint recently sat down with CBR to discuss his new film, Nightborn, which explores themes of parenthood. During the interview, Grint was asked if his own experience as a father has influenced the way he approaches these roles. The actor quickly admitted that fatherhood has changed how he views dark and horror roles and explained why Nightborn was a script he wanted to be a part of.

"Becoming a dad is like it just in itself. I found it was amazing…it's an incredible ride, but it's kind of there are a lot of it at moments where it's just terrifying. This kind of alien kind of appears in your house, and you have no idea really kind of how it works,” he said about fatherhood and the film.

He also went on to call this one of the scariest roles he has ever played. The film follows a couple, Saga and Jon, who move into a remote forest home to raise their newborn son. However, the nightmare begins when the baby develops an appetite for blood, causing tension between the couple as they struggle to understand the terrifying reality around them. Seidi Haarla stars as Saga, while Rupert Grint plays Jon.

While fatherhood has changed Grint's perspective on the roles he chooses, becoming a parent also played a direct role in his decision to star in Nightborn.

Rupert Grint claimed he was fated to star in Nightborn

Rupert Grint, in conversation with Awards Radar, explained that joining Nightborn felt like fate. He revealed that when he received the script, he had just learned that he and his partner, Georgia Groome, were expecting their second child. That timing convinced him that he was meant to be part of the film.

"So it was kind of — it felt very, very kind of fated, really, that I should do this," he said.

Grint further shared that several moments from the film have stayed with him long after filming wrapped. One scene in particular, where Seidi Haarla's character gives birth, has remained with him, as he described it as both triggering and terrifying. And just as Grint described, the film's themes of parenthood, combined with its unique premise, promise a thrilling and unsettling experience.
