It: Welcome to Derry writer Jason Fuchs has been hired to pen the next untitled live-action Transformers film for Paramount Pictures. Fuchs brings serious Hollywood credentials to a property that has always been bigger on spectacle than storytelling, and that combination alone is worth paying attention to. With multiple Transformers-related scripts currently in active development at the studio, the franchise is clearly gearing up for something far more ambitious than a single follow-up.

As the Transformers franchise maps out its next chapter, Fuchs steps in as the creative force tasked with making it count.

According to The Wrap, Paramount has tapped Jason Fuchs to pen an untitled Transformers script, with the film set to continue the storyline established in 2023's Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. The producing team includes Michael Bay, Steven Spielberg, Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian, Tom DeSanto, and Don Murphy. Fuchs co-created, co-showran, and executive-produced the critically acclaimed HBO series It: Welcome to Derry, and his screenwriting portfolio has collectively grossed over 1.9 billion dollars at the global box office.

After Transformers: Rise of the Beasts closed with Anthony Ramos' Noah Diaz being recruited by the covert military operation G.I. Joe, the next chapter has significant story ground to cover. That post-credits scene effectively set up two parallel narrative tracks, a direct sequel and a separate Transformers and G.I. Joe crossover film, the latter being written by Jurassic World scribe Derek Connolly. Fuchs' script is one of several in active development at Paramount, signalling that the studio is treating this franchise as a multi-lane highway, not a single road.

While Paramount builds out its Transformers universe on multiple fronts, Fuchs himself is already operating on an equally ambitious scale elsewhere.

Jason Fuchs and the My Hero Academia live-action film

Alongside the Transformers assignment, Jason Fuchs is currently writing the live-action feature adaptation of My Hero Academia for Netflix and Legendary Pictures. The film, directed by Shinsuke Sato, is set in a world where nearly 80% of the population possesses superpowers called Quirks, centering on Izuku Midoriya, a boy born without abilities who inherits the mantle of the world's greatest hero. Production is expected to begin in late 2026, with a release window targeting 2027 or 2028.

Sato, known for his experience adapting beloved Japanese properties for the screen, brings a familiarity with the source material's scale and cultural weight. Fuchs, meanwhile, has recently launched his own production company, Five Ten Productions, signalling a career moving decisively into franchise-level territory. For the Transformers faithful, having a writer of his calibre aboard the next chapter is, arguably, the most promising creative news the series has received in years.
