Rock music has had its share of feuds, but few siblings turned family warfare into such a spectacular spectator sport as Noel and Liam Gallagher. Their childhood animosity followed Oasis onto stages, into interviews, and eventually backstage, where a 2009 Paris blowup ended the band. Fifteen years later, the Gallagher brothers finally reunited, with cameras watching through Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger.

Before documentary even arrives, its directors have already revealed what it was like watching rock history rewrite itself before them.

Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger directors give a peek into the reunion

Will Lovelace and Dylan Southern had a remarkably close-up view of Oasis putting its family feud on ice. Speaking to Variety ahead of the documentary’s world premiere in Venice, the directors recalled watching Noel and Liam Gallagher reunite after 15 years apart. What they witnessed was less tearful reconciliation and more two musicians getting straight back to work.

“It was so interesting hearing the music come together, having not heard them play as a band for 15/16 years, but also seeing them reconnecting. It was a privileged view,” says Will Lovelace, describing the strange thrill of hearing Oasis play together again after 15 or 16 years.

Dylan Southern, meanwhile, was determined not to turn the reunion into a circus, keeping cameras unobtrusive as the brothers shared a room for the first prolonged stretch in years. The restraint proved crucial.

Dylan Southern recalled to Variety that the biggest surprise was how little drama accompanied the reunion. There were no cinematic hugs or emotional confessions, just Noel Gallagher and Liam Gallagher meticulously working through Oasis staples such as 'Wonderwall' and 'Live Forever '. As Will Lovelace put it, the brothers were focused on the serious business of mounting rock and roll’s biggest comeback.

Oasis Documentary 'Dont Look Back in Anger': Plot, Release Date, Where to Watch and Everything You Need to Know

With more details emerging about Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger, fans will naturally want to know how much time the documentary gives them with the Gallagher brothers.

What is Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger going to be about?

Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger is less a simple concert film than a time machine with a very loud soundtrack. Its heart is the 2025 Oasis Live ’25 reunion, following Noel Gallagher and Liam Gallagher from behind-the-scenes rehearsals into stadiums across five continents. Yet the film also goes back in time, using their first joint interview in 20 years to reckon with everything that happened in between.

That means the 16-year gap since Oasis split in 2009 matters, as does the brothers’ two-decade interview silence, but the cameras ultimately settle on 2025. From quietly observed rehearsals to enormous shows in Tokyo and Dublin, the documentary watches two estranged bandmates rediscover their rhythm while revisiting the history that made their reunion so irresistible. In other words, the film’s timeline is almost as eventful as the reunion itself.
