Jason Sudeikis once had a three-season game plan for Ted Lasso, but AFC Richmond clearly had other ideas. The feel-good Apple TV+ comedy was originally meant to wrap up with Season 3, only to return for a fourth season thanks to its enduring popularity. Now, Sudeikis has weighed in on the possibility of more episodes, saying he would love to continue if there is enough demand.
With Seasons 5 and 6 on the table as possibilities, could Richmond be gearing up for another team talk, another match, and another reminder to believe?

Jason Sudeikis is not ruling out more Ted Lasso, but even the man behind AFC Richmond does not have a game plan for what comes next. On Talk Easy with Sam Frogoso, the co-creator explained that returning for Season 4 was driven by the feeling that there was still more story to tell. When asked whether Seasons 5 and 6 were mapped out, Sudeikis remained cautiously optimistic.
"We’ll see. It takes a village," he said.
Sudeikis was much less hesitant when Frogoso asked whether he actually wanted to continue the Apple TV+ comedy. The actor admitted that he would like to make more episodes and "thought it would be fun." However, enthusiasm is not the same as a confirmed renewal, and Sudeikis made it clear that the future remained uncertain.

The biggest clue came when Sudeikis revealed on Talk Easy with Sam Frogoso that the writers' room had not even started working on additional seasons. Although he assumed Apple would be willing to continue if he wanted to, no official plan for Seasons 5 or 6 was in place. With Season 4's finale leaving room for further stories while still offering a possible ending, fans may have to wait before Richmond returns.
With Season 4 leaving plenty to unpack, from Mae’s death to the possibility of Seasons 5 and 6, keeping an eye on its performance is now more important than ever.
Ted Lasso Season 4's performance
Ted Lasso returned for Season 4 with a winning streak that would make even AFC Richmond proud. The Apple TV+ comedy reportedly drew 296.6 million US viewing minutes during its first two days, surpassing the previous record set by its own third season. Across premiere week, the series accumulated 866 million minutes viewed, while reaching No. 1 in 37 countries and becoming Apple TV+’s second most-watched global series.

The reception was similarly encouraging, with Season 4 earning an 89% critics’ score and a 79% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Although the shift toward Ted coaching a second-division women’s football team divided some viewers, the series still attracted considerable attention. With its record-breaking debut and strong overall reception, Apple TV+ has plenty of reason to consider keeping the Richmond story alive.
