Once in a while, amid the inspirational adventures, thrillers, and horror films, one might find themselves seeking some solace in heart-fluttering movies and rom-coms. One such film is The Kissing Booth, starring Joey King, Jacob Elordi, and Joel Courtney. Based on the novel of the same name by Beth Reekles, the heartwarming romance and wholesome friendship pulled viewers in when it first premiered in 2018.

The struggles of the teenage characters dealing with their lives and love led to a trilogy, with the cast returning for each film, with the latest released in 2021. Now, more than five years later, fans are hoping to see another film. While there is no update on a fourth installment, King revealed what she wants for to be explored if a fourth movie were to be made.

Joey King reveals her condition to return to The Kissing Booth

Much to fans’ relief, Joey King did not rule out returning if The Kissing Booth 4 were to be made, hinting that she might be interested in another ride. However, the actress also said she would want the sequel to take an approach similar to her upcoming film, Practical Magic 2. During her appearance on Variety’s Tiana DeNicola, King revealed that she would like The Kissing Booth 4 to be set 30 years after the events of the original trilogy.

“I think it needs to be a good 30 years before we check in on these characters again. And I think that'd be really kind of the perfect way to say hello again. So, I'm never gonna say never, but I think it'd be really much more interesting to me to check on these characters when they've lived a lot more life,” she said.

This interview is not the first time the actress has said that she would like the potential The Kissing Booth 4 to be set several years after the events of the previous films. Previously, in an interview with ET’s Matt Cohen, the actress said she would like to see what happens to her character, Elle, in the future, particularly in her 40s, and where the characters stand in each other’s lives.

While King is clearly interested in returning for another The Kissing Booth film, questions remain about Jacob Elordi’s return, especially since he initially did not want to be part of the previous films.

Jacob Elordi did not want to be in The Kissing Booth films

The Kissing Booth films have been a massive success for the cast. The same can be said for Jacob Elordi, who starred as Noah Flynn across all three films in the franchise. However, nearly two years after the release of the third film, Elordi claimed that he did not want to be part of those films.

"I didn’t want to make those movies before I made those movies. Those movies are ridiculous. They’re not universal. They’re an escape," he said, as per Variety.

Whether Elordi wanted to be part of the films or not, the franchise’s success allowed the cast to explore more opportunities in the industry. Elordi has since starred in Euphoria, Saltburn, and Priscilla, along with several other brilliant projects, with many more in the pipeline. Although there are doubts about whether he would return for another movie, a fourth film is certainly highly anticipated.
