After years of balancing blockbuster movies, hit TV projects, and major fashion commitments, Zendaya has become one of the most sought-after stars in Hollywood. The actress, who has won an Emmy, continues to build her career as a passionate filmmaker with multiple high-profile projects in the works. In a recent interview, Zendaya spoke out about her work and creative process, offering a rare glimpse into her deep passion for the filmmaking process. 

For Zendaya, however, the job does not end when filming wraps as she shared why she gets drawn back to movie sets even on her days off. 

Zendaya has stated that her love for making movies goes beyond her regular working days. In a recent interview with Hugo Décrypte, she mentioned that she sometimes comes to the film locations even when she does not have any filming schedule to visit the sets just to watch the whole process of creation. As she talked about her experience in Budapest when Dune was being filmed, she mentioned how she went there just to watch the whole beginning scene of the movie.

“I love my job; the actual creative part of making it doesn't always feel like a job,” Zendaya recalled, adding that being on set is often more enjoyable than work itself. 

She also stated during the Hugo Décrypte interview that her love for making movies goes beyond the regular working days. For context, Dune was filmed in many countries, with the main filming done in Budapest, Hungary, at Origo Studios. Other scenes were filmed in the desert of Wadi Rum in Jordan and in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where the planet Arrakis was set. The filming in Norway took place to capture the landscape of Caladan.

That passion has also fueled one of the busiest stretches of her career as her release calendar continues to grow, forcing her to reflect on the demanding journey behind it. 

Although 2026 is shaping up to be Zendaya's biggest year, the groundwork was laid much earlier. The actress has been working almost nonstop since late 2024, wrapping The Drama before quickly moving into Euphoria Season 3, a schedule she previously described as a whirlwind. Speaking to Jacqueline Coley on Fandango's Big Ticket alongside co-stars Robert Pattinson, Alana Haim, and Mamoudou Athie, Zendaya reflected on her packed schedule and joked that she might go into hiding once her busy 2026 slate comes to an end. 

The statement shows that Zendaya's love of movies goes far beyond her work as an actress, yet does not guarantee immunity to the hustle behind it. Regardless, on her days off, the actress does not leave the set, but rather prefers to be involved in the creation process, learning from other filmmakers and seeing how the movie is filmed. Zendaya is stepping into one of the busiest periods of her career, and it is her love for storytelling and collaborations that defines her approach.
