Gwyneth Paltrow has opened up about one of the most difficult emotions she experienced after her relationship with Brad Pitt came to an end. The two turned heads when they began dating in the 1990s and quickly became one of Hollywood’s most beloved couples. At the time, Pitt was already an established actor, while Paltrow was beginning to make a name for herself in the industry.
But along with their romance came public scrutiny and attention. So, when the couple split, it was about much more than heartbreak. Looking back, Paltrow revealed the sense of extra shame and burden she felt at the time.

Gwyneth Paltrow recently appeared on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast, where she spoke about her career as well as her relationship with Brad Pitt. She reflected on the time when she was often recognized as Pitt’s girlfriend and revealed the attention she received early in her career. However, after their breakup, she recalled facing an extra burden because of media attention.
“I think the press aspect and all that makes it feel larger than life in a way,” she said. “You have to carry this faux cultural importance piece, this extra burden and this extra shame that it didn’t work out.”

The two met on the set of Se7en and began dating in 1994. They got engaged in 1996 but called it quits in June 1997. However, as Paltrow revealed on the podcast, the two remain good friends and still talk to each other occasionally. She also opened up about their breakup on the Call Her Daddy podcast in 2023, recalling that she was not ready for such a major chapter in her life while pointing out their age gap.
“There were a number of things that had happened, he was nine years older than me — he knew what he wanted, he was ready to do it and I was kind of all over the place,” she said.
After her relationship with Brad Pitt ended, Paltrow found love again, eventually marrying and building her own family.

Gwyneth Paltrow married Coldplay frontman Chris Martin in 2003. The two met backstage at a Coldplay concert in October 2002 and began dating shortly afterward. They went on to have two children, Apple and Moses, before amicably separating in 2014.

That same year, Paltrow began dating television writer and producer Brad Falchuk. The couple tied the knot in 2018. Despite the media attention and scrutiny surrounding her relationships, Paltrow has since moved on, and the same appears to be true for Brad Pitt. The two have remained on good terms over the years.
