In a vast space of science fiction narratives, 2026 has produced one gem cinephiles would like to keep in the history books: Ryan Gosling’s Project Hail Mary. As effortlessly as The Martian, this film radicalizes loneliness and remembrance into a tapestry of hope and possibility. The film, based on Andy Weir's bestselling novel, follows a science teacher who wakes up alone on a spaceship as a cosmic disaster ensues. When such a film earns the tag of peak cinema, its demand for streaming accessibility skyrockets.

The movie had its theatrical release on March 20, 2026, and has maintained strong box office results throughout its run. And now it is time for it to dominate streaming platforms.

As of now, Project Hail Mary is not available on streaming platforms. Having been released worldwide on March 20, 2026, it is currently only available in theaters and has not yet been released on Netflix, Prime Video, or any other streaming service. The movie is set to be available on Prime Video since Amazon MGM Studios produces it.

The film will follow the standard procedure which begins with theatrical release and ends with digital distribution. Reports suggest that it will arrive on premium video-on-demand (VOD) platforms during the last week of April 2026 or through the first week of May 2026 following a 45-day window. This will allow viewers to either rent or purchase the movie through Amazon, Apple TV and other digital stores.

Project Hail Mary has earned the top spot at the box office ranking amongst the top movies of 2026, made on a budget of $248 million. The sci-fi space odyssey opened with about $80.5 million in North America, earning rave reviews and incredible critics' scores. It has even surpassed 2023’s Creed III, which was the last top earner of its production company.

The film has received generally favorable reviews, which praised it for piecing together familiar and comforting bits like a brilliant mixtape. It quickly crossed $300 million worldwide, making it Amazon MGM’s highest-grossing film and one of the biggest non-franchise hits in recent years, never failing to pull in crowds owing to its A-list cast.
