One of the most brutal films in Guillermo del Toro’s eerie body of work is Pan’s Labyrinth. It is a terrifying fairy tale that merges violence with visuals that are awe-inspiring and yet deeply unsettling. This haunting masterpiece, which holds a 95% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, had not been forgotten, but perhaps buried down amid a wave of newer cinematic visions.

Now, with a new interest in the film, many are revisiting it, which sparked curiosity about its streaming details and its availability on Netflix.

Unfortunately, Guillermo del Toro’s horror classic Pan’s Labyrinth is not available on Netflix. However, the DVD version of the movie can be rented from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Crunchyroll. Now, it is not surprising that, despite strong demand to revisit the film, it has not made its way onto major streaming platforms.

The Spanish-language film, released in 2006, is approaching its 20th anniversary. And to celebrate this special moment, the movie has been acquired by Cineverse. So instead of watching it at home, audiences may soon get the chance to experience del Toro’s haunting classic in theaters once again. Considering its previous global earnings of around $83.8 million, the film could once again make a strong impact with its theatrical return.

If anything, the new wave of interest in the movie is a strong indication that it can once set a few records.

Pan’s Labyrinth sees a new life after Frankenstein

Pan’s Labyrinth remains unforgettable for those who have watched it even once. However, those buried memories were reignited after Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein arrived on Netflix in October 2025. The same sense of cruelty, heartbreak, and emotionally rich creatures, paired with aesthetically striking visuals, won hearts.

As per FlixPatrol, the film even surpassed Interstellar by Christopher Nolan and Now You See Me on domestic iTunes charts on November 18, 2025. It seems this event fuelled some renewed fondness, with many flocking back to Pan’s Labyrinth.

The story follows Ofelia, a young girl who discovers a mysterious labyrinth and meets a faun who claims she is a lost princess from an underground realm. As she navigates this magical world, the film also portrays the harsh realities of post–Civil War Spain, particularly through her cruel stepfather, a fascist officer. If this surge in interest continues, Pan’s Labyrinth could very well repeat, or even surpass, its original success.
