Lanterns has quickly become the talk of HBO Max, captivating audiences with its gritty detective-mystery thriller approach to the Green Lantern mythos. The series masterfully sets up the passing of the torch from Kyle Chandler's veteran Hal Jordan to Aaron Pierre's John Stewart, weaving a noir-tinged narrative that explores corruption, legacy, and cosmic duty.

Yet as fans dive deeper into the show's intricate plotting, one question continues to surface: will Nathan Fillion's Guy Gardner, first introduced in 2025's Superman, make an appearance? 

Nathan Fillion's Guy Gardner does appear in Lanterns, and his arrival was teased in promotional material well before the episode aired. A sneak peek released ahead of Episode 3 showed Gardner visiting John Stewart in prison, flashing Hal Jordan's green power ring directly in Stewart's face in a tense confrontation that ended with a cryptic "Redacted by the Green Lantern Corps" message.

Fillion himself introduced the clip on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, confirming his official casting in the series and hinting that Gardner would play a recurring role across multiple DCU projects. The scene takes place in the show's 2026 timeline, marking Gardner's first small-screen appearance since Superman and solidifying his place as a key figure in the unfolding mystery surrounding Hal Jordan's death and Stewart's induction into the Corps.

Variety confirmed Fillion's casting a year before the show's premiere, and subsequent promos have only reinforced his significance to the story. With Gardner now officially part of the Lanterns ensemble, the show continues to build a cohesive DCU that honors its characters' histories while pushing them into bold new territory.

But Guy Gardener is not the only DC stalwart appearing on Lanterns.

Fans have eagerly speculated whether Sheriff Kerry Kane, portrayed by Kelly Macdonald in HBO's Lanterns, could be the DCU's version of Batwoman. The theory gained traction after Episode 2 revealed that Kerry hails from Gotham City and bears the surname Kane, a name deeply tied to Batman lore through Bruce Wayne's mother, Martha Kane, and her cousin Kate Kane, the superhero Batwoman.

In Episode 1, Kerry references "Barb" during a phone call, leading some to believe she is speaking to Barbara Gordon, daughter of Commissioner James Gordon, further linking her to Gotham's Bat-Family. However, no official confirmation has been made by DC Studios or the show's creators.

Macdonald herself has only acknowledged the Gotham connection as a significant backstory detail without confirming any superhero identity.  While the evidence creates a compelling possibility, Lanterns has not stated that Kerry belongs to Kate Kane's family, leaving the theory unconfirmed but tantalizing for fans awaiting future DCU developments.
