Presenting Megan Fox as a toothy, bloodthirsty, man-eating demon in Jennifer's Body at the peak of her career, which was mostly defined by her stunning looks and seductive charms, was a bold move - one that paid off in the long run, as the film garnered a cult status after tanking at the box office. The duo of Jennifer (Fox) and Needy (Amanda Seyfried) was loved by the viewers, and they have been hoping for a long time now to see the characters once more on the screen.

While Amanda Seyfried is sure to return for a Jennifer’s Body sequel, Megan Fox’s comeback is still in question.

A sequel to the 2009 cult classic body horror flick, Jennifer’s Body has been hinted at for almost two years now since the writer of the original film first expressed his interest in developing a follow-up to the beloved movie in January 2024. However, 20th Century never greenlit the project.

The studio still has not officially announced the sequel. But the project has been seen in Production Weekly’s listings, as revealed by a July 17 report by World of Reel. This has unofficially confirmed that the project will go on the floors in October. But still, there is no confirmation whatsoever on the main leads.

Amanda Seyfried, who recently extended her support to her The Housemaid co-star Sydney Sweeney amid American Eagle backlash, is surely returning for the sequel, and she has been quite vocal about it.  She confirmed he involvement in the project during Variety’s Actors on Actors conversation last year with a fellow Jennifer’s Body co-star, Adam Brody. She, however, conjectured that she will not be returning if Fox is not going to be in it with her.

The original movie’s popularity was mostly due to the two main leads and the storyline that explored the themes of friendship, s********, and exploitation. 

In the 2009 movie, Jennifer's Body, Megan Fox plays a high school cheerleader who turns into a succubus after being possessed and preys on her male classmates. Amanda Seyfried, her best friend, must muster all the courage she has to put a stop to the growing horror as the body count climbs. Jennifer's Body has a 47% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes after receiving mixed-to-negative reviews upon its premiere. 

While several reviewers hailed Diablo Cody's dialogue and Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried's performances as highlights, critics at the time commonly criticized the film's uneven tone and marketing, which prioritized horror above its satirical elements. The change in sentiments over the years regarding the movie led to a strong demand for a sequel, which now seems to be a reality. But whether the original duo will return still continues to worry fans.
