Play Dirty premieres exclusively on Prime Video and will not be available on Netflix. The official release date is slated for October 1, 2025, making it a perfect fall binge-watch for fans of mob crime thrillers. The movie features heavyweight creative talent with the screenplay co-written and co-directed by Shane Black, the man behind blockbusters such as Iron Man 3, The Nice Guys, and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, alongside Charles Mondry and Anthony Bagarozzi.

Previously, Robert Downey Jr. had been attached to the film in 2022, the development of which took years to come to fruition. However, it is Susan Downey for Team Downey and Marc Toberoff, with Ezra Emanuel, who are co-producing Mark Wahlberg's upcoming movie along with Amazon MGM Studios. Play Dirty started filming in March 2024 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, and the surrounding suburbs, including Ku-ring-gai and the Hills District, promising a visual treat to stunning cityscapes, complementing the theme of the movie derived from Donald E. Westlake's legendary Parker novels.
