After the shocking ending of Season 2, the crime-comedy drama High Potential will return for more mysteries and drama in Season 3. Kaitlin Olson, Daniel Sunjata, Javicia Leslie, Deniz Akdeniz, and Judy Reyes announced the renewal in an Instagram clip. ABC and the show have already confirmed the next installment through a joint post on Instagram.
"The case isn’t closed," the post read. "#HighPotential has been renewed for Season 3!"
Although the series has been renewed, there has been a massive change behind the scenes. As per Deadline, Todd Harthan, who led the first two seasons, will not return for Season 3. With a shift in creative leadership, the upcoming season could see several notable changes, potentially including adjustments to the cast.
Although the official casting details for season 3 have yet to be announced, there is already speculation that one cast member may be exiting following the newest season.
Steve Howey may not return for High Potential season 3
Following the dramatic Season 2 finale of High Potential, questions are swirling around Steve Howey’s role in the show. His character, Nick Wagner, was left gravely injured in season 2, which hints at a possible exit from the crime comedy series. He had appeared on the show only a few times.

Moreover, as reported by Deadline, Howey had joined as a series regular for a one-year deal. Meanwhile, he has a hectic schedule playing Levi in Netflix’s Ransom Canyon and also appearing in Season 5 of the streamer’s The Lincoln Lawyer. However, the actor might have a chance to return in season 3 for a brief time to conclude his character’s arc.
But that will remain for the new showrunner and writing team to make the decision. As of now, fans can only patiently wait for more details. Until then, the first two seasons can be binge-watched on Hulu.
