Iron Lung, directed by Mark Fischbach, is unfortunately not yet available for streaming. However, the film is still running in theaters and has even secured an extended run. That comes as no surprise, considering how well it has performed at the domestic box office.
The movie earned $17.8 million initially and went on to gross around $52 million overall, as per Box Office Mojo. It came close to competing with Send Help, starring Rachel McAdams, which earned $19.1 million domestically. These numbers might not seem massive at first glance, but they are remarkable for a film that is not backed by a major studio.
This independent sci-fi horror project is written, directed, and financed by Fischbach himself. The film stars Markiplier alongside Caroline Kaplan, Troy Baker, Elle LaMont, Elsie Lovelock, and Mick Lauer, among others. The interesting news is that the film will eventually be available to watch at home. Fischbach has confirmed that he is working out the details for its release across formats like DVD, Blu-ray, and digital platforms.
But before that, what exactly is the movie Iron Lung about?
Plot of Iron Lung
Iron Lung is based on the 2022 horror video game by David Szymanski. Set in the future where a mysterious event called the 'Quiet Rapture,' caused stars, planets, and most of humanity to vanish, the movie follows a convict named Simon, who is forced to pilot a sealed submarine called the Iron Lung to explore a moon covered in an ocean of blood in exchange for his freedom. This begins Simon's journey of discovering and dealing with the dangers he is not aware of.
