Major streaming outages have become an unfortunate part of life online, with services like Netflix, Xbox Live, and PlayStation Network all having had high-profile meltdowns that left millions locked out at once. When it happens, social media fills up with error screenshots, memes, and frustrated subscribers demanding answers.

Now it is Disney+ feeling the heat, as tens of thousands of users across the United States report that the platform simply is not working properly, with login failures at the center of the complaints.

According to multiple reports, Disney+ began experiencing widespread technical issues on Thursday evening. Users trying to access the service said they were unable to log into their accounts, even with correct credentials, while others reported being kicked out mid-session or stuck on loading screens instead of reaching the home page. The problem escalated quickly as more people turned online to confirm whether it was just them or something much bigger.

Outage-tracking platform Downdetector captured the spike in real time, with complaints jumping from around 14,000 to over 50,000 in less than 40 minutes. Most of those reports pointed directly to login issues rather than playback errors, suggesting that the disruption was tied to account authentication systems. A smaller portion of users flagged general streaming problems, but access remained the primary concern.

As of the latest updates referenced in coverage, Disney had not issued a detailed explanation or timeline for a fix. Subscribers were left refreshing apps, retrying passwords, and waiting for normal service to resume. For now, the answer to whether Disney+ is down is clear for many users, and the outage appears to be affecting a significant portion of its audience as it did for Netflix a few months back.

Disney bets big on Warrior Cats franchise expansion

An animated series based on the bestselling Warrior Cats novels is officially in development for both Disney+ and Disney Channel, with a targeted release window set for 2028. The franchise, known for its expansive world of rival feral cat clans, continues to grow in popularity through books and merchandise.

The adaptation will begin with the original arc, ‘The Prophecies Begin’, focusing on the early chapters that established the saga’s core mythology. A.C. Bradley is attached as showrunner, bringing experience from major Marvel projects, while Rodrigo Blaas will direct. Production duties fall to Original Force, with Coolabi Group closely involved as the long-time steward of the brand.
