Rob Liefeld has always had a complicated relationship with Marvel. He co-created Deadpool, one of the studio’s most beloved and bankable antiheroes, yet he has never hesitated to call out Marvel movies, creators, or corporate decisions when they do not match his taste. Over the years, he has bounced between praise, blunt criticism, and outright trolling of the Marvel machine.

Now he has once again taken aim at Marvel on social media and, to twist the knife, done it while loudly praising rival DC instead.

Rob Liefeld has never been shy with his comic book movie opinions, and his latest Instagram bit made that very clear. Playing a game where he popped a balloon only if a movie was “better” than Zack Snyder's Watchmen, he let several titles pass by with a shrug. Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Attack of the Clones, and The Batman all came and went without praise, but it was Iron Man 3 that drew a sharp reaction, with Liefeld dismissing it outright as “overrated.”

He kept swiping through other superhero staples like Ant-Man, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and the first Thor, holding the line on his Watchmen loyalty. The real turning point arrived when Man of Steel finally appeared on screen. Liefeld instantly changed tone.

“Only Snyder can beat Snyder, and Man of Steel is a masterpiece. Say it together, repeat it often.” he declared.

In a few seconds, he summed up a stance many Snyder fans share. Marvel entries like Iron Man 3 might be popular crowd-pleasers, but for him, they do not match the mythic scale of Snyder’s DC storytelling. By calling Iron Man 3 overrated and elevating Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel to “masterpiece” status, Liefeld firmly aligned himself with the Snyder camp and reignited a familiar fan debate.

Seasoned fandom finds new fuel as Zack Snyder salutes Superman’s global reach

Zack Snyder managed to send a loud message with a single Instagram post and not a single line of commentary. To mark the 13th anniversary of Man of Steel, he shared several images, but one in particular lit up the internet: a Man of Steel poster for Henry Cavill’s Superman rendered entirely in Hindi.

The poster swaps out the familiar English text for “13 साल पहले” and the title “मैन ऑफ़ स्टील,” clearly aimed at Indian audiences. The response was immediate and intense, with comment sections filling up quickly. Fans expressed excitement, pride, and a sense that Snyder was directly recognizing them, alongside renewed calls for the SnyderVerse.

What stands out most is the level of engagement the post received. Compared with Snyder’s other anniversary shares, the Hindi artwork drew significantly more interaction. It is a strong signal of the global appeal of Man of Steel, particularly in markets like India, where Cavill’s Superman continues to resonate deeply.
