With season four's unexpected finale, fans are eagerly waiting for Invincible season 5. Similar to how the streaming service handled the renewals for seasons 3 and 4, Amazon Prime Video announced the renewal of the series beyond that on July 17, 2025, even before season 4 had debuted. Season 4 really left things precariously for Mark and Earth, for that matter, leaving him no choice but to accept Thragg’s proposition to let the Viltrumites live and assimilate with human beings. With Thragg and other Viltrumites’ threat now closer than ever, what will be Mark’s next steps?
The answer to this question can only be given by season 5, and followers of the series would probably love to know when.

The fifth season of Invincible has not yet been given a definite release date or month. In a Q&A with Collider, Robert Kirkman hinted that it would be named the months January, April, and May of next year, but was unable to specify a specific date. However, one thing is sure: Invincible season 5 will be available on Amazon Prime Video in 2027.
"I think that a pattern has formed, but I can't confirm anything. Maybe it will be April. Maybe May. Maybe January. I don't know. Who knows? We'll see," Kirkman said.
This is in line with the creative team's intention to start a new season every year, starting with season 3, after a significant lapse between seasons 1 and 2. The streamer disclosed that the voice acting was finished, along with the year of release. Along with confirming Thragg and Dinosaurus' anticipated comebacks, they reassured fans that Conquest is genuinely dead by stating he will not return.
Notably, Robert Kirkman stated in the Collider Q&A that they were conducting ADR and receiving the final animation. He also mentioned that he was finishing things up with the team. With the details provided, it could be assumed that the makers are planning something big for the upcoming season.
Although the exact plot has not yet been disclosed for the impending season, the possible storyline can be deduced by the comic book arc it is most likely to adapt.
The possible plot for Invincible season 5
Since the makers of Invincible hinted that Dinosaurus will be back, it gives us a direction as to where the story might be headed. The Death of Everyone, a 2012 plot from issues roughly in the #100 range of Robert Kirkman's comic, is anticipated to be adapted for season 5. It means that this arc is going to a moral and emotional apocalypse. Dinosaurus detonates bombs throughout Greenland, flooding a number of major cities worldwide, including Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Tokyo, and London.

In what is still one of the most horrifying scenes in superhero comics, Mark is ripped apart live on television. Additionally, the arc sets off the Scourge Virus infection plot, which deprives Mark of his abilities at the most inconvenient moment. After the finale of season four, the expectations are sky-high for Invincible season 5, and one can only hope that it delivers as usual.
