Invincible, which first arrived in the early 2000s, was already popular among comic book readers. However, it gained a massive new wave of fans when the animated series premiered in March 2021. Since then, Mark’s story has expanded across three new seasons, with the latest, Season 4, running from March to April 2026. Many viewers have tuned in to keep up with the new episodes of the animated version, which features a stellar voice cast.

As the show's season 4 inches closer to its conclusion, there is growing curiosity about whether the adult-animated superhero could return for another season.

Invincible will return for Season 5, as confirmed by Prime Video. The renewal was announced well before the premiere of Season 4. And it was after the massive success of Season 3, which became the platform’s most-watched animated season of all time.

The show is already in production. And as the creator of both the Invincible comics and show, Robert Kirkman, explained in an interview with Polygon, there could be more than 6 seasons for the show following Mark's journey. He further added that some parts of the story might be shown faster, while others could be stretched out more.

“I’m trying not to pin it down to a number, because it is somewhat of a moving target. I think in the seven-to-eight-season range seems like it would be enough,” he said.

And if the show can maintain its current success and run long enough, it should be able to cover the entire comic. Interestingly, there is a lot to explore and not just from the comics, but also from ideas that never made it onto the page. As many comic readers know, the animated version already includes several subtle differences, such as gender swaps and new story arcs.

Now, this has been Robert Kirkman’s vision for the animated series of Invincible all along and there will be more changes in the future.

Invincible could have more changes in the future

Invincible has been a massive success, pulling in animation and manga enthusiasts who are enjoying the new superhero’s journey. The same holds for comic readers, who get to see their favorite story come to life while also getting to know new story arcs and characters. And as Robert Kirkman said, he hopes to continue adding more of these new details.

“Anyone familiar with the comic that's watching a TV show can still experience that new feeling and feel the surprise of something that you can't predict, and you have no idea how the story's going to go,” he told Liam Crowley in an interview with ScreenRant.

He also added that there are several story arcs they could not include in the comics, which could now be explored in the series. So, the show remains quite unpredictable even for comic readers. And with the show set to continue for more seasons, it promises to bring even more exciting and unexpected developments.
