A long time has passed since a live-action adaptation of Invincible was announced. In 2017, Universal Pictures and Skybound Entertainment said that Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg would write, direct, and produce the live-action version of Invincible. Since then, the movie seemed to be in limbo of sorts, moving slowly to oblivion. But now, some new information has surfaced that gives fans something to look forward to.

Recently, Robert Kirkman, who is one of the producers of the show, has given an update on the live-action adaptation of Invincible.

Robert Kirkman, while withholding important information, discussed the project's present state in an interview with ScreenRant. His remarks point to persistent delays but also suggest progress behind the scenes. Kirkman stated that the live-action project is still in its early phases of development.

"It's definitely a long process and it's something that hopefully will come together sooner rather than later," Kirkman said.

After confirming that "there's certainly movement here and there behind the scenes," the producer further underlined that the animated series continues to be a top priority for the team at the moment.

“But nothing that we can reveal just yet,” Kirkman added in the interview. Given that the show's creator has hinted at potentially continuing it for eight or even ten seasons, the statement coming from Kirkman makes sense in that regard. Well, the question mark on the live-action project seems to be fading away with Kirkman’s update, and now the only question in everyone’s mind is the potential cast for the film.

Because of its tremendous, graphic brutality, scope, and emotional weight, Invincible is a particularly challenging project to translate into live-action. The live-action adaptation would need to properly balance violent, character-driven, emotional storytelling across several realms. For now, everyone is looking forward to the season 4 release and can find solace in the fact that the live-action adaptation is on the table.
