The internet has unearthed yet another relic from the vaults of celebrity history. Sometimes these finds are glittering gems, other times awkward shards that induce a collective discomfort, a grimace rippling through the internet. In this case, it is a decades-old interview between Anthony Anderson and Lindsay Lohan, caught on tape and stirring controversy and conversation alike. The past, it seems, has a stubborn way of imposing itself on the present, and it has sent Andreson scrambling to clear things up.

When celebrities rewind, the past plays some curious tunes. And this one has definitely stirred some static.

The resurfaced interview involves Anthony Anderson and a teenage Lindsay Lohan during a 2003 episode of The Osbourne Show. The clip has drawn sharp criticism for Anderson's repeated remarks insinuating towards the then 17-year-old actress's dating life, which many viewers deemed inappropriate and unsettling for the young actress. Cueing backlash, Anderson issued a response through his spokesperson, reporting to Entertainment Weekly, expressing that the commenters were "clearly intended as comedy." He expressed regret if his humor was "in poor taste" and stated he has "the utmost respect for Lindsay".

At the time, Anderson was 33 years old, while Lohan was just 17, promoting the home release of her film Freaky Friday, which will notably be turning "freakier" in August. The most strikingly unhinged, and not pleasantly so, moments included Anderson making comments about liking "them young," and suggesting, to an audience, that Lohan was "single but looking." These comments brought discomfort to many, visibly including Lohan herself, who quickly clarified her legal age status during the interview.
