George Lucas shared his view on AI during the interview for A Rabbit’s Foot. He compared modern skepticism regarding the technology to historic complaints about early automobiles replacing traditional horses and buggies. The filmmaker firmly believes that digital adaptation simply represents inevitable, unstoppable progress that cannot be reversed by industrial resistance.
"Artificial intelligence means it is much easier for us to make movies," he said. He claims that AI is the future of filmmaking.
“That’s progress; it’s the future,” he said. While acknowledging the potential ethical risks involved, he insists that advanced computing systems can effectively provide their own internal solutions. He notes that specialized programming can instantly verify authenticity and track source files much faster than any human counterpart.

“If you want AI that tells you when something is fake and where it came from, AI can do that,” he said while speaking to A Rabbit’s Foot.
“Humans can’t; we’re not that smart,” he added. By accepting the technology as the standard moving forward, he hopes to guide the next generation toward intelligent integration. This bold stance has ignited an incredibly vibrant conversation across the entire entertainment landscape.
Several other legendary Hollywood directors are concurrently adopting diverse, supportive stances toward these digital systems.
Elite directors who actively embrace AI
Acclaimed director Ron Howard openly embraces automated systems as a practical, essential creative tool designed to maximize workflow efficiency. Speaking at the Runway AI Film Festival, he speculated that past pioneers like Jim Henson would have enthusiastically adopted these modern resources.
“That’s what these tools make so available and why they’re so exciting,” said Howard. Meanwhile, legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese praised the technology for liberating the creative process rather than replacing human ingenuity.
"I recently tested this out on a scene, and the ability to visualize and immediately share the storyboard was creatively freeing," he said in a statement, as per BBC. Steven Spielberg supports utilizing automation for tedious logistical tasks like scouting remote filming locations to save manual labor. "Save us a lot of legwork," he said on the IMO podcast.
