Inde Navarrette is entering a defining stretch of her career, with Obsession putting her in the spotlight and Marvel’s upcoming X-Men reboot opening the door to a major new chapter. From playing Nikki to preparing to take on Rogue, the actor is moving between emotionally demanding roles and the kind of franchise opportunity that can reshape a career. Her next challenge, however, is making sure the projects she chooses build a lasting reputation rather than simply a longer list of credits.
The question now is whether Nikki’s story has reached its final chapter or whether Navarrette would return to explore the aftermath of a nightmare that extends beyond the film’s closing moments.

For Inde Navarrette, a potential sequel would need to reckon with what Nikki has endured rather than simply manufacture another round of horror. The actor said she would be completely open to reprising the role to The Hollywood Reporter.
““I would totally be open to doing a sequel. Are you kidding me? Who am I to say no? And what is she doing afterwards? I think the non-pretty answer, which I think is more important to give sometimes than kind of just giggling through answers, is she’s starting a grief process….,” she said.

As The Hollywood Reporter reported in its interview with Navarrette, the actor described Nikki’s next chapter as the beginning of a grief process. That perspective offers an intriguing direction for a sequel, shifting the focus from the immediate horror of Obsession to the difficult aftermath of surviving an experience outside one’s control. Rather than promising a continuation, Navarrette has offered a thoughtful interpretation of where Nikki stands emotionally, leaving room for a story that examines recovery and its complications.
A return to Obsession remains a possibility, but Navarrette is also looking beyond the character who brought her into the spotlight. Her upcoming projects suggest that she is intent on making the most of a career-defining opportunity.
Why Inde Navarrette is being selective about her next roles
Inde Navarrette is preparing to play Rogue, also known as Anna Marie, in Marvel’s upcoming X-Men film, directed by Jake Schreier and scheduled for May 2028. She has also attached herself to The Waffle House Index, an Apple Original Films science-fiction thriller produced by Plan B Entertainment, in which she will star and serve as an executive producer. The latter offers an opportunity to move into a different kind of role while expanding her involvement behind the scenes.

In her conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Navarrette explained that she wants to make deliberate choices at this stage of her career. She is drawn to grounded, carefully developed characters and hopes to transform her appearance when a role demands it. Discussing The Waffle House Index, she even considered changing her weight, shaving her head or adding eyebrow piercings. For Rogue, meanwhile, she wants to respect Marvel’s writers while bringing her own interpretation to the beloved mutant.
Navarrette’s next chapter could therefore be defined by more than franchise recognition. Whether she returns as Nikki or transforms into Rogue, her priorities suggest an actor determined to make each role count.
