Amanda Seyfried has revealed that s** scenes were the one thing that made her reject a new show. The actress is currently starring in The Life and Deaths of Wilson Shedd, directed by Tim Blake Nelson. The drama premiered at the Hamptons International Film Festival three weeks after its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival. Her latest remarks, however, concerned a project she left behind.
While some actors chase every steamy script, Seyfried found one that crossed her comfort line, and her explanation is refreshingly blunt.
Amanda Seyfried opens up about setting boundaries with on-screen intimacy
Amanda Seyfried revealed that she rejected a series because of its frequent intimate scenes. She explained that the identity of her scene partner would not change her discomfort with the content. The actress shared these thoughts while promoting The Life and Deaths of Wilson Shedd.
“I passed on a show where I would have to have s** all the time,” Seyfried said during a panel hosted by Alec Baldwin at the Hamptons International Film Festival in East Hampton, N.Y., on Oct. 4.
She then added, “I’m uncomfortable with it. I’m not into it right now.”

As reported by People, Seyfried, 40, said on-screen romance once felt like an easy day at work, with a paycheck attached to kissing a hot co-star. Age changed that math, and she added that she might feel differently if the project returned later. Motherhood also made her firmer about saying no, since her children, Nina Sadoski Seyfried, 9, and Thomas Jr., 6, are watching. She shares them with her estranged husband, Thomas Sadoski.
While Seyfried says no with confidence today, one older refusal became a career what-if that Hollywood loves to replay.
Amanda Seyfried explains why she turned down Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy
Amanda Seyfried recalled on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast about a year ago that the offer to play Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy came at a precarious point in her career. She feared that a superhero film built around a talking tree and a talking raccoon would become the first Marvel flop, and she believed that would hurt her career. She chose Seth MacFarlane’s A Million Ways to Die in the West instead. Zoe Saldaña then took over Gamora.

Guardians of the Galaxy went on to become one of Marvel’s defining cosmic hits, turning Chris Pratt into a franchise headliner. Seyfried admitted she was wrong about the film, yet defended her instinct as smart rather than brave. The Housemaid reportedly grossed nearly $400 million worldwide, so her career has been fine anyway. Seyfried may have underestimated a talking raccoon, but her instincts on the steamy series came through loud and clear.
