Mikey Madison says she is still open to doing a franchise or a blockbuster one day, even after turning down Star Wars: Starfighter. Since winning the Best Actress Oscar for Anora, Madison has treated Hollywood offers like menu items, ordering only what looks worth the wait. Studios keep sliding bigger and shinier plates across the table. One recent interview gave her the perfect moment to explain exactly how she decides.
Before any blockbuster door swings open, there is the matter of a galaxy far, far away that Madison decided to skip.
Mikey Madison stays open to blockbusters despite passing on Star Wars: Starfighter
Mikey Madison has not closed the door on big franchises, even though she passed on Star Wars: Starfighter. Her interest depends on what the project offers, not on how big the poster looks.
"I'm totally open to doing like a franchise or like a blockbuster movie one day," Madison told Variety.
She then added, "To me, it's really just about the character, the people I get to work with, my fellow actors."

The comments came during a red carpet chat with Variety at the premiere of The Social Reckoning, Aaron Sorkin's follow-up to The Social Network, which opens October 9, 2026. Star Wars: Starfighter, a Shawn Levy film starring Ryan Gosling, lands May 28, 2027. Madison was offered a role widely described as villainous in April 2025, and sources pointed to a pay dispute with Lucasfilm and Disney. Mia Goth later landed a similar pursuer role.
While Madison gets ready to play a Facebook whistleblower on screen, her personal feed remains a ghost town.
Why Mikey Madison avoids social media while starring in The Social Reckoning
Mikey Madison has stayed off social media since she began acting professionally in 2013, and her old Instagram profile has sat untouched for more than a decade. In a video shared by Pop Faction, she said she is grateful she never joined, since it would have felt overwhelming and destructive. She added that it never felt comfortable or authentic, and she feels lucky to have missed today's invasive content and algorithm-driven echo chambers.

She also noted that social media looked very different when she was growing up. The irony is hard to miss, since she plays Frances Haugen, a Facebook data scientist who risks her career to expose the company's hidden data and questionable ethics. Haugen worked from the inside to push platforms toward greater safety for young people, while Madison watches from the sidelines. Madison has no plans to ever hop on.
