Nick Offerman has never been one to shy away from speaking his mind. And he did the same while addressing commentator and media host Ben Shapiro’s comments about his role as Bill in the acclaimed thriller series The Last of Us. Shapiro did not seem particularly fond of Offerman’s portrayal, while also heavily criticising the character and the actor.

However, Offerman had a rather hilarious response to the criticism.

Nick Offerman addressed Ben Shapiro’s comment

Nick Offerman recently appeared on Talk Easy with Sam Fragoso, where he was shown a clip of Ben Shapiro narrating a recap of the actor's standalone episode of The Last of Us. The commentator criticised his role as Bill. Offerman initially laughed at the clip being played at 1.5 speed before hilariously dissecting Shapiro’s comments.

"I'm embarrassed for his reading comprehension. I think he got eight things wrong in his recap besides his rampant homophobia," he said.

The criticism came after season 1, episode 3 of The Last of Us, in which Offerman starred as Bill alongside Murray Bartlett and portrayed a queer romance set in a post-apocalyptic world. Shapiro criticized the episode, pointing out the lack of a zombie threat and even referring to Offerman’s character as a “gay Ron Swanson.” Interestingly, the actor also won an Emmy for his performance.

As for Shapiro's criticism, Offerman revealed on Talk Easy with Sam Fragoso that he had written a song about it during his tours. However, he ultimately decided to let it go and added that he did not want to get drawn into an argument. He shared that he wants to focus on his career as he gets to explore creative and challenging roles after his role as Ron Swanson on Parks and Recreation.
