Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman era seemed firmly closed after DC’s reboot and the collapse of her planned third solo film. But while promoting her latest action thriller, the actor left one very specific door unlocked: if Zack Snyder returns to lead DC, she says she would return too. The comment arrives after years of SnyderVerse speculation, giving fans of her Diana Prince one more tantalizing “what if.”

Her DC exit became especially complicated after the studio moved in a new creative direction, while Gadot later said the handling of her departure and Henry Cavill’s Superman exit was not particularly elegant. 

Now, one answer has reopened the conversation around a very different version of DC.

During her JoBlo Celebrity Access interview, Gal Gadot was asked whether she would return as Wonder Woman if Snyder were brought back to make Justice League 2 and Justice League 3. Her response was strikingly direct.

“If Zack [Snyder] comes back to run DC, I’ll come back,” she said, not batting an eye.  

That answer carries extra weight because Snyder is not simply another director in Gadot’s DC history. 

He was central to the early architecture of her version of Diana, with Wonder Woman itself carrying a story credit for Snyder alongside Allan Heinberg and Jason Fuchs. Snyder eventually stepped away from Justice League in 2017 following a family tragedy, with Joss Whedon taking over the production and completing the theatrical version. The saga later became one of Hollywood’s most unusual director-driven fan campaigns when the Snyder Cut for Justice League, Zack Snyder's Justice League was released in 2021.

Still, Gadot’s hypothetical return remains exactly that, with little assurance after the confession on the JoBlo Celebrity Access interview. Snyder returning to run the current DC universe is not an established plan, and the existing DC leadership has been building a new continuity rather than reviving the previous one.

And Gadot is already showing audiences what she can do without the Amazonian armor.

The Runner puts Gal Gadot in a much more grounded action-thriller mode. Directed by Kevin Macdonald, the film follows a London defense attorney whose ordinary morning run spirals into a dangerous race against time after her son is abducted. It gives Gadot a different kind of physical vocabulary, trading Diana’s mythic strength and superhero spectacle for frantic movement, survival instincts and the pressure of protecting her family.

That shift is particularly notable after Gadot spent years being synonymous with Wonder Woman. Even her preparation for The Runner became physically punishing, with demanding running sequences and training ultimately leaving her injured enough to finish the production on crutches. For now, that is where Gadot’s screen future is focused, but her latest comments ensure that the lasso is not completely out of reach.

Whether Snyder ever returns to DC is another question entirely. But if he does, Gadot has made her position unusually clear.
