Ryan Reynolds [http://netflixjunkie.com/tag/ryan-reynolds/] and Rob McElhenney
now own the third-oldest professional football club, Wrexham AFC. Initially,
when they first got control of the club, the Welsh people were quite skeptical
about it. However, Hollywood celebrities quickly went from being strangers to
becoming fan favorites pretty well. After successfully winning the hearts of the
Welsh people, the Canadian actor is planning to do the same if he would acquire
Ottawa Senators. But what did he do with Wrexham AFC?

The Maximum Effort owner expressed his wish to buy Ottawa Senators a little
while ago. Since then, he has been working hard to be a part of it. As reported
by Ottawa Citizen, the actor talked about

how he plans to help Senators grow. Ryan Reynolds revealed the secret of his
success with Wrexham AFC and how he would do the same with the Senators, too.
Talking about his and McElhenney’s approach with Wrexham FC, the Deadpool actor
mentioned the importance of community.

According to the 46-year-old actor, “If you’re going to grow the club, you have
to be in tandem and be able to grow that community.” When they took over Wrexham
AFC, they were not aware of the game at all. However, as they went deeper into
it, they understood it rapidly. Most importantly, Reynolds and McElhenney
understood how the community played a major role in sustaining the club.

HOW DID RYAN REYNOLDS AND ROB MCELHENNEY WIN THE HEARTS OF THE WELSH COMMUNITY?

Along with the club and the players, the owners went hand in hand with the
community as well. Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney did not secure themselves
with publicists, lawyers, or other layers of protection. The owners stayed
available and accessible to both the club and the community. One of the players,
Paul Mullin, also talked about how the Wrexham owners really treat the club

and the community. Because they own the club now, they understood they were
accountable for many things. And thus, they tried to stay as connected with the
community as possible.

Revealing his plans for Ottawa Senators, the Vancouver-born actor, said that
this is what he wishes to do with the Senators as well. He wants to grow the
community along with the club. Staying connected makes them understand the roots
of the community. Although being a Canadian himself, it might be easy for
Reynolds to win the hearts of the locals.
