The allure of Instagram in this day and age has not spared anyone. Everyone needs a piece of the sprawling social media platform that gives one access to the world itself through a single screen. From getting to know what others are up to to telling the world their story and feelings, Instagram has become an essential part of people’s lives. The idea that someone tries to escape its reach is bizarre, and this notion only becomes more valid with Instagram’s newest famous entry.

Jennifer Lawrence, who managed to dodge the appeal of the picture-sharing platform, has finally joined it with a threat to the trolls.

For the very first time, Jennifer Lawrence has joined Instagram under the handle @jlaw. After officially stepping into the world of Instagram, Lawrence gained around a million followers in less than a day. However, the Oscar winner is cautioning against poisonous social media users. She has threatened to stop using the platform if people start being mean on Instagram.

“So yeah, I am giving it a shot and if anyone says anything negative I will quit immediately, no questions asked,” Lawrence warned in her very first video post.

In a post on her Instagram story, Lawrence reiterated her message: 

"Please be mindful that any mean or aggressive comments can negatively affect the baby." It's me. I am the infant.”

Lawrence informed her followers that she had to go with the @jlaw handle when she first opened her Instagram account on September 9 because @jenniferlawrence was already taken, and she hilariously mentioned it in her bio. The next day, she uploaded her debut video. As of September 10, Lawrence is following 46 accounts. 

Lawrence had not used social media up until this point, despite being one of the biggest public figures on the planet.  She has expressed in previous interviews that she dislikes press tours because, when interviews and headlines go viral, she "loses control" of her work. Lawrence might be able to regain some control by using social media.

Talking more about the following list of the actress, she has followed only a select few, but those happen to be some very well-known figures of the industry.

The ones she is following range from Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio, with whom she recently filmed the psychological drama What Happens at Night (which is anticipated to be released by Apple next year), to Miss Piggy (she is currently working on a Miss Piggy movie with friend and fellow Oscar winner Emma Stone).

She also follows Josh Hutcherson, her co-star in The Hunger Games, Ziwe, Stephen Colbert, Suki Waterhouse; and Chicken Shop Date host Amelia Dimoldenberg. Much of the Kardashian-Jenner family, Matt Rogers, Bowen Yang, Keke Palmer, Derek Blasberg, NPR, Jonathan Anderson, Andy Cohen, Emily Ratajkowski, Amy Poehler, Ms. Rachel, Amy Schumer, Dakota Johnson, and her husband, Cooke Maroney, are some of the other people that she follows on Instagram.
